Robert Chapman Wesley Jr., MD is the eldest child born to a family physician, Dr. Robert C. Wesley, and an English teacher, Anne Louise Reynolds, in rural central Virginia. His daughter, Naissan Oliai Wesley, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship trained dematologic surgeon, further specialized in skin cancer surgery and cosmetic procedures. 


After graduating from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Wesley attended Yale College as a Yale National Scholar and graduated with highest honors in the History of Fine Arts. He received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. After residency at The Graduate hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received the Terri Guth Award for Humanitarianism in medicine and was voted the most outstanding resident, he completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Virginia. There he received a Physician Scientist Award from the National Institute of Health and co-authored two biomedical patents.


Dr. Wesley then moved to the University of California at Irvine where he first served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and later as Assistant Dean, Director of Cardiovascular Education, and Associate Professor of Medicine. At the Long Beach V.A. Medical Center, he directed the Clinical Electrophysiology Laboratory.


Dr. Wesley also served for one year as Professor of Medicine, in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, before founding New Life Cardiology in Las Vegas in 1997. In 2002, he joined Nevada Heart & Vascular Center.


Over the years, Dr. Wesley has developed and cultivated remarkable therapeutic skills. He has studied clinical hypnosis for over 20 years and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the foundation of Dr. Wesley’s interest in “Mind-Body” medicine and in alternative and complementary health. He is Nevada’s only physician simultaneously board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Integrative & Holistic Medicine.


In addition to his academic pursuits and medical practice, Dr. Wesley has maintained a strong interest and an active role in increasing public awareness on relevant social issues. He served in the national leadership of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) for 10 years and for 3 years as Co-President of the Los Angeles Chapter. For the work of his medical students against gun violence, he accepted on their behalf The Children's Defense Fund Award in Washington, D.C. on November 15, 1995.


He has worked as a teaching fellow at the Institute do Cardiologia in Porto Alegre, Brazil and has a rudimentary facility in Russian and Portuguese.  He is the CEO of the Brazilian Company, AEAES Gestao Administration and is member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia.  He has participated in the running of a non-profit jazz club in Philadelphia (The Foxhole Café) and has a cultivated interest in music, dance, and drama.


In October, 2009, Dr. Wesley won first place in a charity dance competition, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the From the Heart Charitable Group, to raise money for childhood cancer patients, entitled “Dancing for Your Star”.


In March, 2010, Dr. Wesley was installed for a three year term as President of the Nevada Chapter and Governor for The American College of Cardiology.


In June, 2010, Dr. Wesley and his colleague, Dr. Chowdhry Ahsan, were named as the outstanding adjunct teaching faculty of the University of Nevada School of Medicine’s Internal Medicine Department.


Dr. Wesley affirms: "Our aim is not simply to reverse the process of disease, but rather to optimize health and well-being. All aspects of the patient must be considered. Essential to this path is the cultivation of relationship and the harnessing of powerful thoughts and affirmations."
